Michelle Peterson, APRN, MSN, AGNP-C
Nurse Practitioner

For more than sixteen years Michelle Peterson has been empowering her patients to improve their health. She focuses on wellness and chronic disease prevention, teaching patients how to “sleep well, eat well and work well”.

Michelle graduated from nursing school in 1998 and began working full time as a volunteer Labor and Delivery nurse at a DoD hospital in Germany. In 2000 she began her Charleston nursing career in the Emergency Department at Roper Hospital. She then changed her practice focus to heart health. For many years, she cared for people suffering from obesity, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases. Her cardiac and critical care experience fueled her passion to help her patients avoid or improve these conditions and achieve wellness.

She began practicing sleep medicine after completing her Master’s Degree in Nursing in 2014 and achieving certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. Her practice at South Carolina Sleep Medicine gives her the opportunity to encourage and empower her patients to achieve their best health. She believes a good sleep experience is foundational to a good life experience and enjoys showing her patients how to make helpful choices to improve their quality of life. She finds it deeply rewarding when patients return happier and healthier.

Michelle lives in Summerville surrounded by her family and friends. She loves cooking, reading, and going out for coffee with her sisters. She is a lifelong learner and hopes to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in the near future.
